Re: 385 million year old shark tooth today!!!!!

hey diamond. cool find with the tooth! someone told me that when they are black like that they are a certain number of millions of years old. that true? i have no clue. have you found any huge teeth?

i have a funny one about a sharks too.
my son and i went to galveston for a little MD&R. we found almost no real targets at all for a couple of hundred yards. believe that? very very strange. anyway, we decided to play in the surf a while and i was skimming the pea gravel and the waters edge through a sieve i built. i was looking for sharks teeth too. didn't find a one..

we got into the jeep, drove a few miles, got out and walked a couple hundred yards and the all the sudden WHAM!!!! something in my water shoe pierced my toe!! man did it ever hurt! felt deep like a sting.

i sat down and took myshoe off and guess what i found. a little shark tooth that just barely covers roosies forehead. imagine all that scoopin and walkin and i take one in the shoe. just thought that would be a neat little story.

Nice find Diamondjim!!

I found quite a few a few weeks ago in a very strange place..

Piles of small rock brought into a construction site by the dumptruck load!
Lots of these teeth mixed in with those rocks.

cheers

In Florida, I know of no better place for teeth than venice beach. If you're not going that far down, the Suwannee and St. Johns rivers produce a few megaladon teeth regularly.

What's with the ad at the bottom of the post? Is that a joke or what? Inquiring minds want to know. I've stared at that first pic for minutes....seems like hours and I am not seeing a shark's tooth. I thought I knew what one looks like but..... ??? ??? Monty

Do you think the earth is really that old?
I don't think it is. I love to find and see fossils though.
Happy Hunting. Dan
