Hi Everybody!
Took the Simplex out for a 2nd time to the same corner lot that I found a 1918 wheat last week. Big, flat field, not many clues as where to hunt, so I put some flags out and started hunting a 30 ft square grid where I found that wheat. Running Park 2 mode, sens at 5-6 bars. Full open, no notching. Got a good nickel signal ID, 29-32. About 4" down I found a coin I couldn't ID, although the date was visible as 1908. I was stoked! Then about 15 minutes later I got a solid 92-94 ID and dug a Bull Durham tobacco token about 6-7" deep. At first I thought it was a dollar coin due to size, but it was still a great find to me. So after a soak in some olive oil and a toothbrush scrubbing I saw I had my first V nickel, 1908! Pics aren't great and the 'V' is in bad shape, being buried for over 100 years likely, lol. Still think there is some silver there waiting for me. Really impressed with Nokta. Gotta learn the machine better, I only have about 5 hours on it. Need to start digging more of those faint beeps. Happy Hunting Y'all!
