Alright now I know to you easterners this is not that old but out here they don't turn up much at all. But today I fought through nothing but 1890s through 1910 era trash and finally towards the end found and older spot. Found one pistol ball and some hand forged iron. That one ball was indicative of a tough day as usually I find a handful. Anyways just as the sun was setting I dug a modern .22 cartridge and right next to it I dug the 1838 Seated Dime in pretty good shape! GL&HH :)

The condition is incredible all the detail is there. I think you're only one year off of being a bust coin instead of seatedcongratulations

So after a quick soak in water I learned that it has the most detail out of all my dimes!

Beautiful Seated Dime.
When you can see a full "LIBERTY " across them shield, you know you have a coin in excellent shape.
Congrats

Great find on the seated dime. It's the first year of issue with the stars on obverse. Nice going.

An awesome high grade coin. Is that dark stuff on it just dirt/build up? It has a perfect liberty and very nice drapery. Looks like a full rim too! May be a MS60 at the least. Great save!

Yeah its just the silver oxidation and dirt. It actually was coming off quite easily. I think I'm going to try to get it all off, if I can. I'll take a pic afterwards, thank you!
