I started at 7 am this morning. The 1st sale was OK but then I headed over to the other side of town. There wasn't much there so I walking back to my car. The person running said "What are you looking for?" I said "jewelry mostly.: She walks back in and brings out a bag. I paid $130 for everything after some haggling. I'm keeping a tally of what I've bought this year so I will periodically post things throughout the summer.

8.2 g of 10K

10.0 g of 14K: One of the rings has 4 decent sized diamonds. I will probably swing by the jewelers tomorrow to see what grade/size they are. My gut check is that they are probably .75 ct and maybe VS/SI.

3.85 oz of silver: I might need help with the amber. The back of each stone is covered in black lacquer. I don't know why. I suppose they could be fake but I have no idea. Any opinions would be welcome.

Nice!! I can't get the big picture of the group to load (crappy connection here). But amber was sometimes painted to enhance or change the color, ex: yellow amber painted dark green on the back to make it appear to be green amber.

Beautiful lot.

Just got back from the jeweler. The 1st place I went to tested the ring. 1 out of 4 were diamonds. The other 3 are moissanite. I went to get a second opinion and they used a regular tester. They all tested as diamonds. I would error on the side of the 1st place. Apparently I need a diamond multi tester. The ring is 14K which is nice but I'm a little disappointed they are not all diamonds.

I keep saying I'm going to buy a diamond/moissanite tester. I have the low budget tester as well. And as was mentioned you are still ahead.

4 stones all the same cut and size. I'd say they are either all diamonds, or all moissanite.

Well good news. They are all diamonds! He suggested an appraisal for $75. Do you think its worth it?

Is that what he offered to pay? seems pretty low.

What is the karat and what does it weigh? I can give you an approx gold value if I have that.

No that was the cost of the appraisal. He said the diamonds were .1 ct which seemed low to me. I think they are at least 1/3 ct each.

I agree that .1 is way too low in my untrained opinion. They look pretty large as you say. I would consider an appraisal because I think it's worth at least $800. But that is just an opinion.
