Got out this morning after work. Hunted a late 1800s homesite. 2 minutes out of the car, first target was the IH. Looks like someone tried to cut it with tin snips?? Site was so trashy my threshold was nulling out in TTF. Got a 43/44 signal and found the 1937 Buff. in the hole before I found the memorial penny. Managed a 1924 wheaty which I did not have thus far this year. I found 2 1909 wheatys, one of them having those little VDB initials on the back. This is the 2nd this year and the pic. dosen't do justice, it is in very fine condition!! Was hoping for "OLD" silver but it wasn't to be. good luck and HH; Bill

Congrats on your 2nd V.D.B. and assortment of Finds! :icon_thumright: I found a few 1909s but no V.D.B. (yet).

Your 1909 VDB cent is a real wonder: few coins come out of the ground in that condition.

Any special soil conditions you wish to mention?

Tuberale, I live in SW. Ohio we have a heavy clay base soil. Hard to dig, not very porus but pretty much PH neutral. I hunt mostly parks and private homesites. Not heavily fertalized as say field sites. Most all Indians and the wheats 1920s and older usally have a deep green patina on them. They do age well around here!! Lol Thanks for looking.
