Dug three signals today which took 40 minutes. The Lincoln was 4" down and the ground frozen to about 3". The wheatie was a '45D down 5" and the ground was frozen down 4". The Merc was down 7" and the ground was frozen the entire way. Go figure. I dug 3, and was tired and out of time. I am a very strong dude and my arms are tired.

Cheers and beers

Well, we do what we must. If the ground is frozen and we HAVE to dig SOMETHING up!
We just have to expect the work. Bet you didn't dig any pulltabs. LOL

Still, there are conditions where the ground isn't frozen. Just have to work to figure them out and then work
to get there. For me? I'd rather do that work. ;)

Congrats on the silver!

Youre a trooper. Dont know why but round here cut over soybean fields dont freeze unless we get 10 degree weather for a week. My yard is frozen in spots but my high soybean fields are good to hunt.

Congratulations on the very fine coin recoveries. I am going to the beach this weekend to work the transition area. I will assume that this area will be fairly easy to dig.

I was thinking of trying that as well, but not for a month or so. Still too cold for me! LOL

What part of the ocean are you planning on trying? I'd like to try Miami beach. ;)

Do you have any trouble using the AT-Pro around salt water?

I found another dime on the 13th and swore that was it until the thaw. Then today rolls around and I couldn't resist. Today I figured on a site where I have hit numerous silvers, knew the depth of the old stuff, and needed a fine combing...

That said I am not going hunting until the thaw!!!!

Happy hunting and thanks for the replies.... There a lot of neat stuff found in the last two days on the forum!

Oh I wish man. It has been so damn cold here. -20 windchill last night. I'm hoping February isn't quite as cold. I'd kill for some 30s

I got an idea! :idea1:

It's still good to get out and take a "walk" every once in a while. So, why not
just go along and mark every "silver" hit with a pull tab just frozen to the surface?

Then, in the Springtime, we can just go merrily over our spots and dig up nothing but silver
and pull tabs! Whatcha think!?!? :tongue3:

That's not a bad idea. I marked a half dollar hit last winter and was crawling out of my socks by the time spring rolled around. Turned out to be a false iron.

But hey, I may just use your idea:)

Kudos to you for digging 7" down! That's insane. I went out today but didn't even pull out the detector. I just tried to penetrate the earth with my Lesche and hardly scratched the surface. :(

Going to try the Jersey shore on Monday.
