Hi all!
Got out in the mud this morning, then searched the wooded area of a local town Common after work.
Ended the day with 2 Sterling spoons, & a nickel silver,
the 'A' mark on the beaded spoon is the earliest of 'Alvin Silver Works' marks.
Eagle on left, tilted Anchor on right. Ha, found the pattern, 'Virginia' 1900 ;D
The sterling adds up to 42 grams, that's like diggin $1.75 in coinage :laughing7:
I can't figure what that monogram says, looks like someone might have added a letter...
Forgot to mention yesterdays hunt yielded 2 British 'New Pence' :dontknow:
(shown today)
Got some kind of Muffin button, see a shield, this needs some work :laughing9:
A lead hemispheric button, first I've seen, it's an oldie.
Figured I'd put the engraved rocks glass I found to good use.
Silver makes a good day, HH to all, Thanks for looking

Congrats on your three spoons today Herbie! :hello2:
You got two Sterling beauties too! :o That's amazing man!

I like this spoon best, I know it's 1929, but that style is more like 1529! :notworthy:
This is my second favourite of your finds! :laughing7: In fact, I'm enjoying one myself right now! :laughing7:

Hope you and Chris hit gold this weekend,
Dave

Your usual great finds Herbie and you have regained yor "Spoonbillwill" status. They sure lost a lot of silverware up there. HH, Quindy.

Thanks Dave, I got the one you like in the mud, and the Alvin in the afternoon,
Kept my spirits up thoughout the day!
I still come up short on the silver coins compared to some (ahem....)
But the spoon finds keep me happy just the same, Best digs to you!

Rick, I find most of the silver on old beaches & mudflats, I guess they were used in the past as picnic areas. my theory: the mud flats were formerly saltmarsh, ( of which some remain today) they have eroded into mud over time leaving behind the lost goodies), the eroding edges of the saltmarsh are the first places I scan, every tide drops more items into the mud... the beer is a yeasty Belgian ale, I used to be an avid homebrewer. Q, I love the variety of Flatware I dig up here, from 17th Century Pewter to 20th Silver, reminds me of all the different slugs you get down there.
I got a bowl full of Ringers I need to sort through
& see if any are special :icon_scratch:
thanks & HH :D
