Those, along with hundreds of other wrecks, are in the Azores, a series of 9 islands about 900 miles west of Portugal. They are autonomous but in matters such as this answer to the central government in Lisbon. Unfortunately that government does not allow any commercial salvage in their waters although the MERCEDES allegedly located recently by Odyssey was lost off the south coast of Portugal in international waters.
