Hey everyone , hope you all had a great first week of 2012 hunting and finding silver & gold ! I got out for three hunts this weekend at four different schools . Total hours about 8 . On Saturday I only found clad in the morning and on the 2nd hunt with my Son I found a nice 925 silver chain . It weighs 24 grams ! Then this morning I got out with my hunting buddy Ryan ( EAGLEFORCE ) and hunted two schools . The first I found one small junk ring and clad . We moved on to another school that has given up a little of everything . After about an hour the back and knees were done . I started going back across the field when I got a strong +42 at 3 inches . I was so surprised to see my third class ring in the past month . I'm not sure what the metal is :icon_scratch: . It is marked SG inside . Anyone have a clue what it could be ? This one has initials so I'll do my best to find it's owner . Total clad for the 8 hours was $27.39 ! :headbang:

Nice recoveries. Hope you can locate the owner. They should be doing back flips for that find.
And bullion chain certainly rounds out the finds.

I swear man, you are such a ring magnet, it seems like you don't even need a detector... just take off walking and they will start jumping out of the ground. :laughing9: :laughing9: :laughing9: I don't have a clue on the SG marking. Looked a little on the net and could only come up with this link where it mentions something a little over half way down the page.... but I really don't think it's related

I think I found out what the ring is made of . Siladium witch is a stainless steel alloy .

I think its plated . because one of the ones I've found was but it said 10 karat. It was a 1974 high school class ring . When i dug it i thought it was sliver because it was all stained up but very white. The other was a university of pitt college ring and it had a nice golden hue to it, and no tarnish at all. . Nice finds as always .

I have my 74' class ring. It says 10K and is white gold. Very popular at the time

Someone on another forum told me that a SG hall mark on a ring stands for Solid Gold ! I hope he is right . It is definitely not plated and looks like 10k . The pictures make it look more white .

Yeah well, with mine marked 10 karat i didnt think it was plated either untill it was tested with a file and some acid , maybe that jeweler was wrong. so i took it to a different gold buyer and sold it for $170 , he didnt test it. his fault.

I just test it with the acid for 10K and it passed :headbang: . All the class rings I have found over the past 14 years have been marked 10k so I never thought to test it when I got home .

looks to be a 10K white gold class ring, I found one last year and it looked exactly like a silver ring but was stamped 10K and passed the acid test too
good luck on finding the lost finger to it Glen..........
