I have a couple of days of work as I'm not having a holiday this year (who needs one with fields like these!).

Started on the field I left off on Sunday. After 4 runs (2 hours) I was bored, only had 1 scrappy Roman Coin & a couple of buttons. So I went into the next field, one of my Favs. Within 30 minutes I had another Roman & a Mystery Coin. Finished with:

8 Roman Coins (average 2 hour :)) - The small one has good detail on both sides. These are late Roman coins & normally poor quality. You can see the size & how well my Cortes picked it up!
Mystery Coin (Cob??) dated 16?0 - What is it?? I like it, as I have never seen one.
Nice few buttons (bottom one 17th century), top ones a first for me :)
and bits......

(I thought I would show how many 4 hole buttons I found) I hate these as they sound like Roman Coins.

As always, great finds. Only in England can a detectorist get bored only finding a single Roman coin. :'( My heart bleeds for you.

Is that a button with a thistle on it? What is the piece in the first photo that sort of looks like a hot air balloon?

Yes - Scottish Thistle - Military? Its a hot air balloon but being broken I don't have a clue.

I bet the dudes in the 70s found hundreds of Roman coins a day. That must have been awesome.

Nice finds, mate.

I doupt it, its pretty random. I have done this field for over 5 years & detected over 20 without a cob, but may as well stick a silver one on my wish list ::)

I am no-where near the sea.
