49th silver coin for 2013 and first solid gold ring (4 grams). Ring came up exactly like a nickel on the Etrac: a solid 12-12 with a slight bounce to 12-13. Also some old aluminum play money, a rabies tag, a tootsie toy car and 5 wheats. Had fun hunting with my friend Mike ...looking forward to more hunts in Martinsville IN. Now we need to hit some of those abandoned houses out in the woods!

Good Job

Man your finding coins etc, like there's no tomorrow , I just had to Google your hometown to see if there was ever an Airdrop of older coins above Bloomington :laughing7: . Do you credit the E-Trac or just a lot of experience & being able to hunt the right places? yourself and a few other guy's /gals on T-net are the ones I look up to, while some make relics their passion and others bottles & like you Coins among other items. Heck I dug my first Indian Cent in over 10 years yesterday , while I have not cleaned it off yet I'm hopeing it's pre 1879 since it was dug at a Civil War era site but if not ill def, take it , if it's a good one ill try to post some pics [ that's my wife's joy]:tongue3: . My lack of coins over the years is 1 because I took off mding " 2001- 2009 only hunting every so often with sick family & other issues & 2 because I usually relic hunt , picking up a few coins along the way; now with relics few and far between & having dug 1 capped bust half dime 1 Capped bust Dime & a beautiful 1839 Seated dime last year I've thinking about and kinda been Coin shooting and grabbing a few relics along the way. Anyway I admire / envy [ in a competitive kind of way] your killer coin finds ,my hats off to you and keep it up. p,s. around 340 wheat's that' crazy I think in around 80,ish. Later...

Wow, nice going Sovereign! I was trying to catch you in silver coins, but you're pullin' away! I'm still at 34 silver coins. I'm at 125 wheaties and 8 indianheads. This heatwave sucks too, but keep up the good work!

I didn't get a pic of it: it's smashed and missing the paint: basically I just forgot. I scan almost everything so 3-dimensional objects come out blurry.
Great finds, can we see the tootsie toy?

I've been pretty passionate about it. I'm amazed at others totals: two guys on my Facebook detectors page have over 125 silver coins this year! I did the same thin I pretty much dropped out for long stretches (my first silver coin and old coin was in 1992) I think experience and the fact the Etrac have helped but mostly I think it's because I go and ask to hunt private property: I get some real dud yards but every once in a while I hit a really good one. For the first time ever, since I started detecting, I found a small patch in the woods in a park that gave me more in 3 days than all the parks I have ever hunted in 20 years. So that said I rarely hunt parks because I find VERY little (other than the experience I just mentioned). SO in my experience the biggest factor is WHERE I hunt. Honestly I've hunted a LOT of yards and the majority give me a couple old pennies and MAYBE a silver and rarely more than one. The exceptions are, one with 7 silver coins, one with 8 silver coins, one with 3 silver coins two with 2 silver coins and the park area that gave 5. Those spots equal 27 of my 49 silvers this year. The yard with the 8 silvers also gave me a total of 36 wheat cents in 2 days, the first day yielded 30 (and 4 Buffaloes)! Wow I'd like to find a Capped Bust anything! Wow! I have only found one really good wheat this year: a 1909-S ($175). I scratched it as well as a VF-EF 1905-S Barber dime ($30). I really kicked myself over those but the ground was really hard and dry and both were on edge.

Thanks for the reply man , I def, feel ya, on the subject of scratching up coins, etc, while digging , I have had the luck not to strike any good coins while digging but i still fret over hitting some nice minies , and other cool items over the years [ mostly in dry ground & when expecting a junk target] also while digging these older home sites I have come to hate pewter hard ware as it sounds good &even tho there's some vintage pieces there usually too pitted to be any good . I also have hit a couple 4 + silver coin yards this year they are few and far between , just waiting for a good hard freeze to knock out a bunch of ivy & other brush at a few sites I have come across this summer & also kill those blood suckers out there [ alot of rain this year so there pretty bad] .So I wish you and every other hunter out there a productive end of 2013 and hopefully mine will be as well . Enjoy your Labor Day . Davers
