4th Time At The The "Walker" Yard Brings Trifecta Of 40's Coins
Hi all,
A week ago Monday I found a '42 Walker half, a '54 Rosie and 11 wheats in an old yard...the next day I went back and found 3 more coins (a Lincoln Memorial and 2 more wheats) after rescanning the same area. Two days after that I hunted the front yard, and found a 5" long skeleton key, a large key from the MGM Grand Hotel in Reno, and a huge 925 silver ring. Well it rained most of the day yesterday, and it appears the rain allowed some more coin seeds to take root because I dug up 3 more oldies today from the same yard.
I swept the coil VERY slowly and deliberately over every square inch of that yard until I couldn't walk! Well to my amazement I found 3 more coins...first I found a barely detectable and very deep '47 Rosie followed by a 1947-D wheatie followed by a very worn (but readable) 1945-P war nickel
I only dug 3 coins the whole time I was there, and all 3 were obsolete If I would have found a 40's quarter, I would have had an example of every piece of 1940's change that could be lost - all from the same yard! I've got to find more yards to check on that street
The war nickel was only the 3rd one I've ever dug, as was the Walker half.
Hope you all find a little treasure this week!
