Well I got up early to go and try a couple of public squares today. Both of them had nothing deeper than 3". Since that plan failed, what to do? KNOCK ON DOORS! So I went to the first house and I got 3 Indians(1866,1881,1882) and a buffalo nickel(1937) in the first strip in front of the house. I got a few wheats and snagged the Large Cent out in the middle of the big yard. I can't see a date since they were kind enough to put a nail through the date. Lastly I decided to hit the grassy island between the driveways and snagged a nice 1865 2-center. Next house was a winner as well. I snagged some old wheats quickly and got almost all my silver within 5 minutes. I'm pretty sure the SLQ is a 1917 T1, but if someone is a guru on these please check it out. I snagged an 1893 Indian another buffalo and followed that with a nice 1893 V nickel. What a heck of a day. That puts me at 92 silver and 62 Indians for the year!! Happy Hunting!!!

Those 2 centers always have the most beutiful patina!!The Largie has a very character rich square hole...square nail likely made!!

Now that's a nice mix of good finds. I'd bet $100 your SLQ is what you suspect - a 1917 T1 - at least it can be dated!

Must be nice...........really, congrats on the great finds. I found a couple of zincolns the other day.
