6-2-07 Finds, Tsgman

I have been so busy lately, the last time I got to hunt was 5-7-07. I met up with my huntin buddy John and we found the grass impenetrable. We moved on to another spot the cattle grazed off pretty well. We had so much rain the ground was very soggy. Rubber gloves came in really handy today.
We had a good day, John dug a 1865? shield nickle along with several drops. I dug a old Kansas 2 cent tax token that was holed. I also dug a old necklace and 3 pinfire shells. A womens Civil War era hairclasp, a small bell? The back of a pocket watch. and several bullets.
Hope you all had a great day digging as well. I know I did, I also enjoyed a swim in my pool when I got home. Best investment I ever made, it will revive you after a long hot day hunting relics! Tsgman

Those are great finds. I enjoy digging civil war sites. I wish we could get some of your rain. The ground is really hard here. Hasn't rained in three weeks.

I know what you mean about the grass Tsgman,luckily it's hay making time here so some of the field's are being cut right now.The corn is only a foot and a half tall so you can still swing the field's.No rain and the heat doesn't make it any easier.Look's like you and John had an excellent day out,nice to see the post like old time's....Very nice find's Tsgman,keep em' coming......Nice pool!!!

Awesome civil war era finds. I'm so jealous cause my buddy and I have been researching the civil war her in texas, but there are only a few sites and they are very scattered throughout the state. Great diggin Tsgman..

I actually thought about you when I dug it and cleaned off to read it. I know we had a bunch of Kansas boys here during the Civil War. I think Gen. Lyon { 1st Union Gen. killed in the Civil War at Wilson's CREEK} was especially impressed with his Kansas troops.
