That site is really producing. . . excellent recoveries

Now, go back and cover that site again swinging perpendicular
to your original direction.

You will be surprised what you may have missed the first time.

Great hunt!

Real nice!!!- Chances of finding one of those in California are slim. I did find a half cent today, but it was a Zincoln cut by the lawnmower lol

99.9% of the finds come from lake erie.
I not only go perpendicular but diagonally as well. and still manage to find tons of stuff. today was more sinkers, musket balls,a small mini sheath knife,a nickle and penny. there are alot of rocks and I try to spend alot of time going around them but it always seems to hide a few more here and there.
pakeha63 you crack me up.

There are a bunch of different varieties of the 1797 half cent. Do you know which you have? A closer pic of obverse and reverse would be nice. That would encourage input from other members. Great Find..............Hogge :headbang:

my old mx1200 camera is just not capable of better photo's. the bottom of the bust is arched, the number 7 is the last and only digit visable, the hair is flowing with no bow. I wish there was a way to remove the iron deposits on the copper coins I find. the relief is there but hot peroxide and olive oil soaks just don't seem to work. at least my silver coins look good.
