Well, I went out on my fave field again today for about two hours. I decided to go on the area that has given me Saxon finds in the past, and once again I was not disappointed, although I had to wait until I got home to find out what I had. The first find was a Viccy sixpence 1875, then some coppers and the usual suspects. The Saxon Key (Circa 8th - 11th century AD) turned up just before I went home. Here's a link to it's formal id http://www.ukdfd.co.uk/ukdfddata/showrecords.php?product=33511&cat=233

On with the pics.

Thanks for looking, and take care out there

I think must be the nicest key i´ve seen found, and mind boggling they had such good quality keys on those times.

Congrats

I never realized keys of that type went so far back in the history of metal smithing...I wonder about the actual locks they fit, if any are known and what they look like. Awesome find :icon_thumleft:
