I only had 3 hours to detect this afternoon as I am drop instiller for my wifes eyes as she has had 2 cataract surgeries in the past 2 weeks. I can't get too far away so I tried a 2 block away permission that isn't very old. Found 1 quarter, 29 memorials, 3 dimes, 4 nickels, 2 wheats, 1911 and no date, and a 1979 Canadian dime that looked like silver to my machine. I think there is a little silver on the edge, but I don't know what the rest of the composition consists of. An old spoon that was silver plate and I can't make out the markings on it. An old knife that I think is unusual. It looks like a small gun. I think in its former life it may have been some kind of switchblade, as it appears that the blade would fold into the handle. There is also a spring inside the handle that would make it a switchblade? Happy hunting. IMG_3046.JPG IMG_3048.JPG IMG_3049.JPG IMG_3050.JPG IMG_3052.JPG

Wonderful finds, Love the knife. Looks like acid has been on the spoon. Congrats on the hunt.

Thats the way it was dug up, kingskid1611. I washed off the mud with a toothbrush and some mild soap.

The 1979 dime is 99.9% nickel (ironic hey?). Our coinage doesn't have the half copper edge look like American coins.

Nice finds

Is there any silver in the edge of your coins? The reeded edge looks like a silver coin.

Looks like silver....unfortunately not silver lol. Silver was phased out sometime in 1968.
