Did a couple short digs this weekend in a town park that was a former homesite. My favorite find is the sterling dragon cufflink, which is my first. Since this appears to be a "bean back" style cufflink, it might be early 1900s. (I knew nothing about cufflinks, and found this short YouTube video to be helpful - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-q4PyedLSss ). Silver coins include the well worn 1908 Barber and a decent 1925 Mercury. The Indian Head pennies are all later date coins. I cleaned three of them with peroxide, but must have left them in too long, as they have rusty looking pitting on them. (My cleaning skills stink!) The 1894 that I cleaned with a toothpick only looks real nice to me though. The Wheats are nothing special, but include a couple earlier dates (1915 and 1917). Not sure how old the pendant is, though it looks interesting to me. The metal buttons rang up like pennies, and have no markings. Maybe from undergarments? Thanks for checking out my post. Happy hunting, and good luck out there.

Great finds from a city park, this park certainly looks like it's never been detected before. :occasion14:
Your silver cuff-link, the early I.H's and silvers tell me there's a lot more yet to be found.

The pendant is a cool find, is there anything on the back, I found a similar one a few weeks ago at an old home site.
The consensus from the Tnet members, was that this type of jewelry dates to the early 1900s.

Here's the pendant I found.
Dave

A super good hunt! The dragon cufflink is very nice. I don't recall seeing one like it posted before. Congrats on the two silvers, and the IHP's as well. The 1894 example is quite sharp. Always a plus to see another Mass hunter posting great finds!!!

Thanks, Dave. I was very happy with these finds, especially since this park actually has been hit pretty hard by others and me. However, I had skipped over this small section previously thinking it had been done to death, as it is a clearing in a ridiculously obvious spot; guess I was wrong. Maybe others thought the same as me. As for the pendant, early 1900s seems right (nothing on the back). It is not looking that great after being in the soil for so long. Wish I had your preservation skills, as I bet you could have this thing looking museum worthy.

Thanks! I really like this cufflink, and only wish I could find the matching one. I am happy with these coins overall, but I am really hoping to find Capped Bust and Seated coins like the ones you posted recently; such great finds. Continued good luck to you!

Thank you for the compliment Steve.
You're more than welcome to put it in an envelope, mail it to me and I'll clean it up for you.
There looks to be a lot of detail in the background underneath the corrosion, so depending on what the base metal is, this piece should clean up nicely.

Send me a PM or text me at 905-410-4088 if you're interested, because I'd have a few questions for you about the base metal before you sent it. :icon_scratch:
