Hello all..
I dug both of these reales out of a housesite "somewhere" ;-) in Northern Virginia. They were about a foot apart.. 7 or 8 inches in the ground. They came out completely black.. not sure if it was due to the forest being mostly oak trees and the tannic acid did it or what.. after trying to clean them.. soak them.. clean them.. over and over.. I gave up and used a pumice paste mix that is used to clean circuit boards where I use to work... I sandwiched them between two pieces of old bike tube rubber, which is suppose to help re-tone them.. but it did not do any good.. I will probably end up stinking them in a house plant pot for a couple of years to give them the dug look again...
After I dug these.. I hunted the site a few more time.. read about 50!! and other then a few large cents and IHs nothing else like this came out...
