Hello Everyone...I will keep this short and sweet :laughing7:

Went out hunting the spot I found my Barber Quarter the day before..and decided to hit it at a new angle..Glad i did..I found a couple clad quarters..and a few disintegrated Zincolns..But did manage to find 4 more Wheats and a Brass Model T hubcap..and a small piece of brass that looked like it went to an old plaque or something

But then i got a strong dime signal...Dup it up and found this Penny..

Im sorta Confused...Ive dug up hundred of coins and tons of Rotting Zincs..But i have never dug up a copper coin that is perfectly flat like this..and with the picture on both sides of the coin...Its a 1971.

I just dont understand how it could be "Worn" this thin and still have the some detail on both sides. Its about half the thickness of a dime

I weighed it and its 1.4 Grams..i Even compared it to a penny my Son and i put on the railroad tracks and its thinner then that

This might be something common with you guys..and if it is i would love to know how it got this way

Thanks

I thought it was flatten by something to..but usally they get wider or odd shaped..i just dont get why it weighs so little..and why it still has the images on both sides

Ive seen coins that have been flatten by trains..and ones that just rot..and ones that looked like they got grinded down on a road or something..but this was new to me..Im sure its nothing big..i just want to know if others have found something like this..

Here are some pics..I tried to get the best pics i could but wasnt able to get one with the date..but it is readable. 1971

and a pic compared to railroad penny

Does it say "Overland" on the bottom? Could be a data plate listing patents from an old Willys/Overland vehicle.
