Sorry in advance if this runs a little long. I have decided to get into CRH on a regular basis, checking mostly halves and dimes, but doing a few pennies and nickels as well. Upon checking, I have only found 2 different banks that have coin counters. I am thinking of dumping my halves at bank#1 and the rest at bank#2 based on the following info. Please tell me what you experts think.

Bank#1 will not sell me any loose halves because one of the tellers has first "dibs" on any that they obtain. Since I won't be able to obtain any there, this seems like a "no-brainer" as where to dump. Also, the coin counter is behind the counter in another room, so should I miss the occasional silver dime or something, I have no chance to see what the coin counter rejects.

At bank#2 I have known the branch manager for 25 years. I went to school with her and she is married to a guy in my graduating class. Known him since grade school. She is going to order halves for me weekly as well as call me when the coin counter fills up with halves and sell me those as well. Their counter is "self-service" so I get to see my rejects in case I missed something. But, I also have the opportunity to buy everything from the coin counter as it fills. I have learned here on TNet that counters reject many silver coins. Is that ALL silver, or just the occasional silver? Would it be worthwhile to buy the dimes and maybe even quarters from their machine? Should I buy only the nickels and pennies and dump them at bank#1 and use this bank as a dime dump only?

What scares me is that I don't want to lose bank#1 as a dump bank. To start, I will already be dumping about $5K a month in halves there. I'm scared that if I add everything else to this, they will tell me that they no longer want my business which leaves me with no dump bank. I greatly appreciate any advice on this in advance.

Pick up from the one with your friend, and dump all of your coins at the other one. Some of the self service bank coin counters dont reject silver.

Not that im an expert ,

1. Open a few bank accounts and make any bank with a counter or teller-collector a dump bank, also any bank you find with someone else dumping is a good dump unless you just ask for whats loose.

2. Try not to get and dump at same bank , it may get tired fast for your friends and for you if your buying bags you may have dumped in

3. You can dump at banks without counters. When i find banks that others dump at i will wait a month and start dumping there also.

4. Not all counters work the same and even similar counters may reject differently or not at all.

I'm not an expert either, but bank #2 sounds like a sweet "buy bank", and bank #1 sounds like a good place to dump. I've seen that most machines don't reject the silver, so if you missed something, it'd probably just go into the bag anyway.

You may want to open an account or two at banks with counters that are in the direction of Tunica, or find a casino there that will take halves. ;D

Kindest regards,
Kantuck

Thanks for the reply quiksilver. There are ONLY 2 banks with coin counters here that I have found. (Hey, its rural Arkansas. I'm lucky there are any at all I guess.) One of those is the bank where I know the manager, can order any amount, get the machine bags when they fill, etc etc etc. I wasn't planning on dumping any coin there that came from there. I was just wondering if it was CRH unethical to dump your dimes where you purchase your halves, and vice-versa. I would like to just purchase everything here and dump at the other bank. I just don't want the other bank to grow tired of my excessive dumping and cut me off thereby leaving me no place to dump. Just trying to avoid any potential problems before they come up.

Unfortunately, all of the casinos in Tunica have went coinless. They now have that ticket payout thingy. I missed my opportunity to do mega-CRHing at the casinos.

Don't make it any more complicated than necessary. My situation is very similar to your #2. What I used to do is pick up full bags that came from the counter + any half dollars I ordered on the day before the armored car service came to do their weekly pickup. I also dumped my searched bags at the same branch on the same day. That way, the bags were picked up the next day by the armored car service. The tellers were so accommodating they would even take my dump bags and run them through for me at a later time when they weren't busy and just deposit the money in my account.

Now there is another branch whose coin machine only has a single bin so I dump there, but the original branch is still my back up when the bins are full.
