It's been a very slow start to the season so far for me, a broken toe has hampered the detecting and I found it hard to stay on a field for longer than a couple of hours.
My main fields are now cut, but I hate stubble, but I think in a short while they will be ploughed but I have managed a couple of things that might interest you a small Cannon ball (grape shot I think) this is the first one of these I have found, but i like it
Managed a few Silvers, A William Sixpence from the same area were I found the York Shilling, this makes four coins from there so I think a small purse loss a very nice 18thc Horse Boss with face The Romans are hiding only had about six...all poor
The couple of hours I managed today produced the first Hammereds one is a Cracker Cut Half Penny of Henry 11 Walter on Northampton and a Henry 111 cut half, I also found a coin or Jetton which I can't ID
hopefully The season should get better, Tomorrow I try a very difficult field, very quiet but some great stuff has been found there
UPDATE...just found out what the small bronze coin is, it's a coin of James 111 of Scotland,1460-1488. Pennies or farthings, which are commonly referred to as Crosraguel pennies, from the abbey at St. Andrews where most of the extent examples were found. It is not for certain whether these were an Ecclesiastical issue
that was issued by Bishop James Kennedy, or if they were a regal issue. At any rate, regardless of the issuer, they must have not been popular as they have never been found in any quantity aside from the Crosraguel hoard. Halfpenny or 1/2d Probably unique
Farthing or 1/4d Popularly known as "Black money
