A few tid-bits & a chiseled stone. Indian artifact?

You know when a stone is the highlight of your post you are having a tough time MDing. ;D
These are my finds from the 1830's CW house today, except for the large carved stone that came from the woods of the plantation house Friday.

Do you think this stone may be an Indian artifact?
There have been a LOT of Indian arrowheads found in this area.
All sides of this stone have areas chiseled out at some point.
One side has a smooth small bowl like area carved into it. You can see chisel marks in some of the areas.
It looks like a stone that never got finished.

There were also CW troops in this area, so maybe it was a bored soldier?

Any ideas?

Thanks for looking. Hopefully I discover something more exciting soon.
Take care,
MM

Eagle buttons losing their excitement? ;D

Funny thing--I got a candy give-away aluminum presidential token today too.

I don't know about the stone--post it in the Artifact threads, and they'll give ya the straight-up on it.

Best Wishes,

Buckles

The rounded hole in one side looks to me, like it could have belonged to a medicine man, sorta like a hand held mortor. Now get out there and find the pestle........NGE BTW, nice finds, I should be so lucky :'(

Re: A few tid-bits & a chiseled stone. Indian artifact?

I posted the stone in the American Indian artifacts section and received a few positive comments on it so far.

"From what I have seen it looks like the Indians here peaked out a hole and then used a round ended rock just a tad bit bigger to smooth out the jagged holes."

"That's a nutting stone/anvil. 100 percent artifact."

I'm glad I brought it home now.

Thanks KD.
The owner is amazed I keep finding stuff on the property. I found the spoon within 5 minutes, and dug the eagle button in front of their daughter & grandkids. They couldn't believe it. ;D

I know there is an LC out there still somewhere. I've only found one in my life (dateless) and it was out in that field. An 1800's silver would be great too. :tongue3:

BB,
Only the cr-ppy ones are losing their interest. This one is pretty rough. :'(
I was hoping to MD at the three brothers property, but they never returned my "damn Yankee" call. :( I guess that place can be crossed off my list.

Thanks for the info NG.

Have a great week.
