i was taking some pictures of a friends artifact collection and thought these were interesting
these were found in mandan sites along the missouri river many years ago

Those are fantastic Steve. As I have said before we never find any type of metal artifact's those are very interesting. Thanks for posting these they are great !!!.

All of those artifacts are related to the Mandan?
The metal has a greenish hue, is it brass or copper?

yes natch i like the info and the link you posted
around here it is common for people to speak about some of the mandans having blond hair and blue eyes with welsh ancestry
there was about 90 of those huge earth lodges on our site some of the biggest could hold 100 people in ceremony's and the like
if you google mandan earth lodges you can probably see some...i have been in some of the huge rebuilt ones...they are amazing
they were built by the younger women who could build one in about a week

I find this very interesting.
These people had knowledge of advanced metalworking
the 3rd item from bottom looks like what is call hoe money or (Aztec money)
very interesting indeed.

That bottom piece looks almost exactly like a roman sword. Very interesting. Any other artifacts from that area?
