A gift from my grandfather

Growing up I was fascinated by these bottles sitting on a shelf at my grandfather's house, eventually he told me what they were used for and I liked them even more. In the years leading up to his death I could always keep my grandfather in a good place when we talked about the years he worked for a R.R. logging company in the 20's-30's...I got into metal detecting after his death and wish I could share the many years worth of finds to come out of these camps with him...
I would like to share the bottles he gave me, what were they used for? Take a guess!

these bottles were filled with kerosene, hung in the tree they were cutting and used to continually lubricate the crosscut saw...

Your grandfather must have been a hard working man. Glad you can appreciate him through these bottles and their story.
