I'm not sure how many of you really know your way around the outdoors so I would like to suggest a book that will make camping a pleasant experience. I would visit any Boy Scout Trading Post and look for the "Field Book", hopefully you can even find an older addition like from the 60's. This book is packed with camping tips, cooking, pioneering, and almost anything else you would need to have a great outdoor trip.

Very good tip, I still have my field book {in the scouts from 1958 to1964} and also an earlyer one from the 40's.

I know that books from the 60's and earlier are on the mark. The later books are a watered down version and leave out important information.

I got mine taken away for playing mumbly peg. I kinda left home with just what I could carry, but sure wish I could have saved all my boy scout stuff.
