Did a weekend of camping & hunting in SilverSurfer’s neighbor hood and had some very good luck. The weekend started pretty slowly, 3 hours of hunting at a park netted me 2 wheat’s. As Joe would say, “Better then a stick in the eye”. After the 3 hour hunt while driving back to the camper I noticed a small sidewalk and road rip up and decided I would hit it Saturday morning before meeting SilverSurfer when he was done at work. Little did I know that 4 foot by 10 foot sidewalk rip up was going to make my week end!

25 cents in the parking meter and I was ready to hunt the rip up, ping “1877 Seated Dime” ping, “toasted Indian Cent”, ping “1870 Canada 10 Cents” ping “Civil War Patriotic Token”. Yea you guessed it, Ping “1868 Shield Nickel. All in the first 15 minuets where the side walk was. Spent the next 2 hours hunting the rip up hoping for yet another ping but was pingless. My weekend was made!!

After hooking up with Joe I found a 37 mercury dime, hit it with the knife, 17 wheat pennies, a cool skeleton key, sterling ring, a trolley token good for ½ fair, golden dollar and a butt load of clad. The school we were at most of the day had clad at 6 and 7 inches DEEP!!! I was happy I was finding a lot of coins that deep but man that’s a lot of digging for a memorial penny or a clad dime.

Only bad part of the weekend was SilverSurfer’s silver dance, I puked in the plug I was digging, hope nothing was good in there because I left it there. Looked like a drunken gooney bird on a bad drug trip with fire ants biting, it was terrible. I just shuttered again.
