The snow from the last storm was melting off, so I went to the lake and thought I would poke around to see if any points washed out of the shoreline. The first one I spotted was the pretty red orange agate point, I got excited because even from 5 feet away I knew it was going to be a point. But what a bummer, lol! It would have been killer! Found another broken base and a tip. To bad they didn't go together, lol! Last, I found a nice scraper/knife. (Seems a little thick for a knife?). It was still a great day out!

Even though they are broke they all have much meaning. Its difficult to find the perfect point. Good luck in your next hunt!

That agate is fine in color and it is still a keeper and the others are good finds:thumbsup: I would glue the 2 other parts together just for a conversation piece. Lol !!!!!

Yes! I know where the source of it is too! Between Anaconda and the Wise River/Wisdom junction. Think it's called Mill creek road? I have a picture of my grandfather rockhounding there back in the 1940's. I also found a crude pre-form or knife made of the same stuff on California creek when I was fishing there lol! I have tried to work some myself but it doesn't seem to flake well, I am wondering if they heat treated it before they made their points? I know I can't seem to be able to work the stuff....

Your last item looks like it may have been used both as as knife and a hide scraper. I have found several that look similar. They seem to be worked only on one edge.

The rule is that you NEVER find both pieces!

Now I know how you can. . . . . :laughing7:

Love the colors in that red/yellow point. Them heartbreakers are a double edged sword sometimes.... I love to find them but it still burns.
