I had to babysit yesterday,but my cousin got out.He found something I have wanted to find for a while now......its a 1911 Calif Hunting license,rolled up in a .32 caliber rifle casing!I found a 1908 (the first year issued)a couple of years ago but it is aluminum.I know of at least one other paper lisc.being dug in a shell casing.He also found a couple of whatsits?What is Pearl Oil?What is the thing with the dragon?Thanks for looking!

Now that's a cool find, there's nothing like digging up old paper intact :thumbsup:
 

That pearl oil plate is from a kerosene heater like the one in the pic I found. I have 2 in storage just like it. Minus the fancy painting of course. Great finds.

Thanks guys,Ah Hah,Pearl oil!Thanks I didnt know that!Also it is amazing what condition the paper is in,there was another shell casing end to end on the one pictured,but it disintegrated getting them apart
