Did a door knock today and got permission from a nice old woman that had to be pushing 90. Found 8 wheats, a nice Merc, an old spoon, part of a 1925 PA hunting license and a 1933 Ford Worlds Fair token. Not sure what the other thing is but it is heavy. In the middle of detecting she asked if I could run to the dollar store to pick her up some cat food. It paid off because she said that I can come back anytime that I want.

It's nice to help out the elderly. It even pays off some time. Good hunt.

The next time you detect her yard a sit down and a talk will probably make her day.

You did well. And gained a standing invitation that could lead to some of her neighbors. Congratulations

Even had you not found a thing and she told you never to return, it was very honorable of you to help her out. Everything else is just gravy.

Kudos, a great story! I wholeheartedly agree with what Back of the Boat says...most older people I meet, especially single, want nothing more than some quality face time...I have a forever permission at a 200 acre farm, and the lonely, older woman comes out to greet me and we end up talking for an hour or so while her 2 dogs whiz all over my machine lol...awesome post!
