i don't have a detector and have borrowed a fee to give them a test run before I decide on one. Anyways, my parents are moving and my dad let me borrow his Detector 1100 (cheap model I know) and I took my 3 daughters in the front yard with it. They are 9, 7 and 5. Well, we found a couple wheat pennies, a couple old nickels (oldest 1940), a quarter and several pennies and nails. The find of the day was my 9 year old finding a pewter ring :)

A great family day, Ghostcoast. Get the best possible detector that you can within your budget from a reputable dealer. Have him/her throw in some goodies to help you get started off right. Happy hunting. When you can, post those photos of your finds. We all like to see them! Sub
