A little lead, a little iron, but my best Michigan button ever.

Hunted a long day today at the camp where I've done well. Sparse targets today, but the very first was this Michigan cuff with thread still in the shank.

It cleaned up beautifully with a lot of guilt left. I've found two other Michigan cuffs and one Michigan cuff face at this camp, but this is far and away the best. The other button back in the photo is toast.

Total for the day included a piece of shrapnel, a pistol bullet and a 3-ringer that looks like he STARTED to pull it, then changed his mind.

You always post some very good finds PW. It is a great find when we can find a button with thread/fabric still attached, isn't it? The Cannonballguy told me conditions have to be just right for that to happen. Things like that make some finds just so much more special than coins or jewelry.

I love reading posts with found CW objects. Partly because of how the war shaped our country. Partly because it is a valuable piece of history that has been saved. And partly because I've never actually found one or held one in my hand. The Michigan button is a beauty and will look gorgeous in a display case. Congrats!

Yep, sparse finds but at least one very nice one!

I think when they start to worm a bullet and it frees up in the barrel, starts spinning, they just figure it will fire. Especially,
in the heat of battle.

Congrats on the Michigan button. That's a good Yankee state seal.
