Hi all! I'm going to be getting my first metal detector at the end of the month, and was hoping for a little advice. I've been leaning towards the Ace 250, but live within 5 miles of the ocean, and am hoping to hunt the beaches a little as well. I've heard that the Ace doesn't do too well on the salt water beaches, and was wondering how true that is. Any advice as to using the Ace near the ocean, and/or suggestions for comparably priced models that might work a little better would be greatly appreciated.

I use my Ace at the beach but you have to turn the sens down when you get in the wet sand.... You might want to check out this guy's post. He seems to be able to use the Ace anywhere..
