Today we were on a mission to find old horse shoes, as tomorrow I’m taking our best ones to a local museum for their display! So super happy we found these two gems The one in Picture 1 weighs 1 lb 9 oz!!

We also found some musket balls, Bobbin shot, 2 buckles, part of a crotal bell, couple of mystery items, buttons and a 1920 penny and a 1887 half penny!

Pictures today are looking back towards the field we were in yesterday, I just love these fields especially on a gorgeous sunny day like today, no where better to be on a Sunday 😆 xx

That's a great display!!! Can you give us some info on why the heart shape horse shoes are referred to as a Surgical shoes. Thanks.
Most of the time, the heart bar shoe is a temporary treatment. It is used to transfer weight until the horse can grow a stronger, healthier hoof. The only time this may not be true is if the crack that is irritating the horse originates in the coronary band—the source of new growth…. xx

Thanks for the info!! I appreciate it. The surgical part had me stumped a bit.

Nice hunt again, liking the dark buckle.
Great display of shoes.
Hope your meet up was great.
The last picture is pretty beefy.
