Well this afternoon was sunny again, but no where near as warm. Had a first though, in the shape of this nice Charles II silver three pence 1681. In over 30 years of detecting this is the first Charles II milled silver coin, I have ever found. Late in the four hour and by now cold session, a coin of Charles II father came to light. The coin is a shilling, of Charles I , very light and greenish, wonder if it could be a contempory forgery ?. All in all another good session. Robert.

Hello scrappy , just weighed the Charles I shilling. 2 gram on the scales. Definite forgery, makes it a very scarce find. Anyone found making these, in those day's, would have been executed !!!.

Excellent silvers rob. If it's a forgery, I think it's even cooler!

Scarce indeed! The history surrounding forgeries intrigues me. I always imagine the forger being caught, dropping the coins, that we now find. Most excellent snag

Congrats on some nice finds! :occasion14:
Made that long cold day worth the effort! Hope it turns out to be real. Nothing worse than a fake anything.

That fake shilling is really an awesome find Robert! Not sure I've seen a hammered silver counterfeit before. Great detail too.
