W. M. C. Boller Co. was a small soda manufacturer in College Point NY in the late 1890's-early 1900's. This is one of their bottles which was made using a Tombstone Slug Plate for the embossing.

Cleaned up. (Stopper still works!)

Found in NYC. It was likely produced in the late 1890's to turn of the century as College Point was incorporated into NYC along with Queens County in 1898 and the bottle refers to the location as 'NY' and not Long Island as it would have before 1898.

It is a Hutchinson type bottle which used a metal and rubber plunger to hold in the soda pressure. This was one of the first bottles to replace cork-tops. The user would open it by slamming their hand on the plunger breaking the pressure-seal. They were produced between 1879-1912.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the type of bottle the term "pop bottle" came from. You "pop" the top down to open it. Gary

Huh! That very well could be. I grew up in the central Midwest, Minnesota, Illinois & Iowa calling all bottled soft drinks just Pop. My wife who grew up in NE Pennsylvania calls soft drinks just Soda. I also recall some folks in Illinois referring soft drinks as a Soda Pop. I don't think I've ever heard the term Soda Pop Bottle. It was either a Soda Bottle or Pop bottle, good for nickel. Heck I can remember when 7 or 8 bottles could buy you a gallon of gas and that's how I payed for the gas at the gas station.
