Ahhh... Gary, are you not feeling well?
I got use to opening your post and seeing like 4 / 5 gold rings, some 22 K, 40 pennyweight gold chains, spanish coins !
Yup, sounds like your down to the nitty gritty !
Still.... nice finds. :)
Keep er going!
I'm headed to Rochester NY in the morning. Lake Ontario had North winds at 40-50 MPH hitting the beaches. With my luck it will have piled the sand inward instead of making some cuts.
Oh well. Don't know till I get there.
Take care,
Gary G.

I was down there too..... on Saturday. I found some modern coins 12-18 inches.... I've started giving the modern coins to kids who are fascinated with my detector on the beach..... I was in the area of the museum on the beach. No one I met was finding any old coins. Nice find on the hinge....

I have been spending a lot of time searching out of the way sites lately, unfortunately my love of older shipwreck finds puts a dent in the amount of glittery finds that I am able to post. It is tough sometimes going hours in between signals but I am hoping that one day I will hit the motherlode on some unsexy beach that hardly sees a metal detector.

Good question and my honest answer would be no, not until I make sure I had completely covered the area. When I found my 1836 gold coin last October I did not post it until a couple of weeks after, just in case anyone saw me searching the beach.

Here here Gary..... I raise my cut to that answer. If i found a gold coin.... sorry but there would be some beach erosion of the Dew kind. You do find some of the most interesting stuff over there. Its hard for most of us to drag ourselves away for the traffic filled beaches.

Nice find Gary:
Were you able to date the hinge and determine how old it is and determine if it is Spanish?
