thanks for the info guys. I didn't realize the 300 was an older model. I am currently using an old Whites DI6000 Pro with a 6" coil. It works well although it is a little heavy that is why I am thinking about the 250. Can't really justify (to the wife) much more than that right now.

Well, if your looking to shed weight then the 250 will be a big step forward in that department. The 250 is one super little machine with features you'd expect to find on a $400 + machine!

I don't know much about the BH 505 but I am curious if the 505 has a pinpointer built in? The 250 does have one, and it's the best pinpointer (builtin type) I've ever used! Right on the money once you get used to it!

I paid $160 for my 250 and I purchased it off of eBay Brand NEW! So, it can be had a a very affordable price!

Good luck on whatever you choose.

I have a 300 and like it just fine. I've heard a lot of good things about the 250 as well. It's up to you :) I also didn't realize the 300 is an older model, perhaps I'll upgrade to a 250 one of these days...
