After we thawed out from our third little snowstorm, ( three "), the snow was almost gone with just a little ice on the creeks & ponds, so I took off for the mts & woods, I saw squirells playing chase, took a pic down a hollow tree to see if 'any critters' were in it, (nope), also found a wild hog skull.
I saw a hawk carrying a snake, (in February), :icon_scratch:, saw old house places with 'model T' body parts (I think), old coffee pot, pots, etc..... Sadly no detecting, (Gov land).
It was good to be out again. :icon_sunny:

I always enjoy your hiking photo's fossis :icon_thumleft:
That tree must've been loud when it fell, the squirrels look happy, the mushrooms are great,
you're alway carrying that rifle, and the burl wood is cool.
Odd that the burl on the tree resembles a hog too ?

Thanks, I wouldn't want to be in these woods during a 'violent storm', dead limbs even fall the next day from 'water saturation'.
The squirells may have 'romance' on their mind, & I never go out without some ' firepower protection, ' it's very isolated in these woods, & I am totally on my own, during deer season folks saw lots of mountain lions around.

Thanks Scotto, it sure was a change from almost record lows to the 70's.
I didn't bring the skull home, it was damaged on the other side.

Good deal fossis, enjoyed them :icon_thumleft: but the hog skull doesn't belong! I get out tomorrow, thank goodness. all the snow is almost gone, and the creeks haven't risen a bit. Oh well, at least it's going to feel like spring is starting. Smelled the skunks on the way to work this morning, that's a springtime thing here. I'm not sure those 'shrooms are chicken of the woods? I thought they were a falltime thing? anyway, enjoyed the walk :hello:

Hey Fossis,
In one of those pictures with the car parts it looks like a grill shell laying face down. The rat rod crowd is crazy about that kinda stuff. You could probably get $50.00 or easily more if it's fairly solid. I sold a very rough 32 ford truck grill on ebay for $212.00. And another unknown make for $75.00.

Most of the parts were pretty well rusted away, but some could be salvaged I guess.
