Snuck in a little hunt after work today and scored some great finds. 9 Wheat pennies, a copper button, 1927 Scranton Dog Tax, 1940 Jefferson nickel, 1937 Buffalo nickel, and a 1921 Mercury Dime. Stoked about the dime, but my favorite find is the dog tax. I am starting to get a nice variety of Scranton Dog tags. KIMG0015.jpg

Congratulations on the hunt! Sometimes the short hunts really produce well.

Awesome hunt!!

I'd take that old dog tag over a merc too, specially if it has Scranton stamped on it. I was born in Sranton and the old dog tags are a favorite of mine already. My goal is to one day find an old dog tag from the 1800's. I've only got 3 older tags with the oldest 1928.

Congrats on all the Awesome finds today!!

Thanks bud. Hopefully you get a chance to get out this week and find some great stuff.

Congratulations on the hunt! Sometimes the short hunts really produce well.

Thanks! Most of my Hunts are after work. And you are right. They usually do produce. After this long winter. I wouldn't mind getting some all day hunts in. Even if I found nothing.

Nice key date find on the Mercury dime!!

Thanks Don! I was stoked when I found it

Thanks deershed! Definitely something about them old dog tags. Must be our relationship with dogs. I didn't realize they made a dog tag in the 1800's. Just added to my bucket list. Anyway, here are the three Scranton Dog Tags I have found. In order 1924, 1927, 1935. image.jpg

Sweet collection of dog tags and all from Scranton!!

Have you ever checked to see if your 1924 tag is the oldest tag from that county, is it Lackawanna county?
You can check right here on T-net. Scroll down the different Forums and go in "Tokens and Tags" from there look for the thread "Got Old Dog Tags" it's not a sticky but, it's up near the top of the forum.
The old dog tags are definitely cool!!

Here's a few of the 1800's dog tags from that thread.

Congrats on all of the goodies! A 21 Merc is a great save and Key Date as well. I have found one but it is pretty worn, not as nice as yours! Congrats!
