I've been trying to get out more after work now that the days are getting longer and daylight savings time (spring ahead) is around the corner. With about an hour and a half of daylight before sunset I started hunting a section of woods that is near an old church site. A lot of chipped coal on the ground in this area. I almost crapped my pants when I dug The First Flag token because i seen the eagle side first and thought it was a gold coin hahaha.

Thanks for looking and good luck on your hunts.

I'm really liking that large patriotic token. Just a guess on my part, but I wouldn't be surprised if it dates to the 1876 centennial.
Edit: I'm seeing some online. Must not be that old or rare because one sold for 50 cents

I usually go out less in the summer because of the mosquitos and poison ivy. I think I've had a touch of poison ivy all winter. I try to get out as much as possible between October and May.

The merc would be a day maker for me. If I found the token and saw the eagle side first I would be overjoyed. A couple months ago I thought I found my first big silver and it was an aluminum token. The joke was on me!

I really love Mercury Dimes. That 1925 Merc is in really good condition. I have never seen a First Flag Token before. It has excellent detail.
Congratulations.

It caught me off guard as I was expecting a metal trash object, the token rang up as a 90 VDI on ATP.

Darn, those aluminum tokens sound great in the headphones. Keep swinging and you'll get one eventually, probably when you least expect it.

Thx, i love them too especially older ones in great condition. When i unearthed the Merc yesterday it had chipped coal stuck to it and I was spraying a lot of water on it so i wouldn't scratch it. Still has some minor scratches on it but I'm sure it wasn't from me.
