That was the supposed little sister to the 6000D And it was a GREAT wet salt beach machine here in CA.

But in every other way it is a dinosaur. Those are circa 1981 to 1983-ish I think. They would be akin to the original 6000D

Garrett detectors bought out White's when White's closed its doors. Maybe you can contact them for more information. I have couple of old White's analog detectors, too. Love the analogs.

I had a 5000 D or 6000 D, Not sure Which anymore :(
Was an Excellent Detector in it's time.
there are some spots I Cleaned out with my Whites,
Even with my Explorer Won't find one single coin Left.

Also because it wasn't as Sensitive, as todays High end detectors,
I could get Closer to fences & Work under metal Bleachers Better.

I bought a 6000 and a 5000 in 81. I gifted the 5000 to my younger brother. He found quite a few coins on the NC State Univ campus. They were good detectors at that time. So big and clunky now. My 6000 took 14 AA batteries!

my guys been swinging longer than ive been alive! i bet you have some real real knowledge and found some real good goodies. imagine all the virgin ground in the 80s?sheshhhhhh whatcha swinging now, just out of curiosity?

I have a nox 800 and an AT Pro. I moved from the city to a very rural area in ‘93. Even with the new machines coins are super scarce here. I found a lot of coins in town with the Whites back in the day. I found silver about every time I went out. I still haven’t found my first silver coin here but at least I find an occasional IHP.

I know I'm getting off topic :tongue3: But My Sovereign Increased My Early Large Cent, Indian & Gold Finds.
My Explorer SE Increased My Silver Finds & Colonial Coppers.
But Decreased My Gold Finds.

Not 100% Sure Locations , Settings Or Detector was The Top reason . But it seemed My Soverign was sweeet on Gold,
My Explorer SE On Pre 1800 Coins. and silver

But My Whites was an Excellent Detector For Places My others are too Sensitive to Go. Even High trash Areas were more Productive For singling out old Coins.

those 5000/6000's Coinmasters Still have their Uses :coffee2:

I still had my 6000 and mentioned it on the forum not too long ago. Gare contacted me and wanted it. I didn’t even know if it worked but he really wanted it. I asked him if he got it going but I think it was shot and he was going to use it for parts. The guy I bought it from found a $12,000 diamond ring with it and decided to quit while he was ahead and sold it to me.

Not too many 5000 D 2's

this looks Like Mine did, No separate slide Switch for Battery Check in the Center above the Speaker. But I Don't remember if it had the Large Screen Like the 6000 or Small Like the 5000
I Think Large :dontknow:

My 5000D S2 was a deep hunter. Had it set up on a hip mount, and an extended shaft so I could really get the coil moving, which was key to getting the max out of the machine.
