Hey All,

Haven't been out in a long time - too much going on and WAY TOO HOT
but i finally got out for a bit today to the old farm where I found some silver a while back. This time I hit it with my 16.5" excellerator coil and only dug deep signals - definately paid off !!!

1864 2 Cent Piece
1876 Seated Dime
1919 penny
1929 penny
and a 1951 roosie

the other stuff was cool to dig as well, the two things with all the holes were used on boots/shoes way back when to keep them from wearing thru

Man, you pulled out some really nice coins with that big coil. You're right, it's WAY TO HOT....and so are you when you get out. Congrats on a great day.

Nice finds...great coins....great relics.

I love those toe plates. If you look closely...you might be able to see a date on those. Look on the inside.

"toe plates", thank you - wasn't sure what to call them
I didn't know they were dated - have found a bunch of them over the years, will have to go back and look for dates, these didn't have any though

How deep were they? A foot?

let's see, the 2 cent piece was about 8", the penny's and roosie were less maybe 5-6" but the seated dime was easily a foot or more, my arm was in the hole to my elbow digging - the relics were all over 8" - definately think the rain the last couple days helped

Williamsport, PA, huh? I know some clowns who hunt in Williamsport.

yeah there's lots of places to hunt here, very historic area, but LOTS of good detectorists too - i did some research and found a PRIME spot in a little town near here, out in the middle of nowhere, really thought i had a virgin site ... so i finally found the owners, went and asked permission, i could have dropped over when they said i was the 7th person in the last two months to ask, couldn't believe it !!!!!

they said no - they let the first 3 have at it and they didn't want anymore on the land

guess it wasn't meant to be ...

Nice digs vpone. I have tried all the other excelerator coils...but not the big boy. I've been doing pretty well with the 12.5" coil so I'm afraid to take it off.

Very nice finds!! But what is this "rain" stuff I keep hearing everybody mention? It seems like everybody is finding this stuff except for me. What exactly does "rain" look like anyway and how do you find it? It seems I've heard of it before but it was a long time ago . . .

well it goes deep for sure, it's heavy in my opinion (but probably not compared to other coils that size though) - hard to swing for extended periods of time, it doesn't do bad at pinpointing, and does not seperate targets very well as you might expect

not a coil you'd use everyday but after you clear the surface stuff out of a site, it's incredible
