Got a few chunks of tertiary gravel yesterday. Half bashed it with a 4 lb.er and panned out a nice quantity of fine gold for the amount crushed.

Great gold guys. Great video too. After watching it I realized I ran into you or one of your buddies in the video at one point on the SF last fall. At least I recognize the guy with the board shorts.

I have been looking for a picture of tertiary gravel for a long time as I have never seen the stuff my self. Thanks for taking the time to post this.

That piece was worn away on the top leaving some of the gravel exposed. All the other pieces I have found usually look like broken concrete. Here is a pic of a giant chunk hanging out of the wall up off Michigan Bluff Road in Placer County. This piece is 8-10 feet across.

And this is why I love the American river. About 4 hours of digging in little pockets freshly exposed because of low water. Biggest tool I used today was a garden trowel.
