This coin was picked up at a garage sale for 25 cents. Its in very poor condition, but still has identifying marks. I have no idea what it is. How about you guys?

I am afraid to do any damage to the coin, I can't bring myself to take that chance. I'm going to take it to a professional, I'll keep you guys updated.

Ok, I've been to 5 different coin dealers and 'experts', and all I have gotten is "Roman, maybe?" Not giving up yet, I'll check back when I have more info.

Obviously not an expert...or willing to accept professional opinions from coin dealers or experts, as well...

Stefen, I am not doubting your suggestion, and roman was suggested by one of the 5 dealers I talked to, not including you. No offense, but having 'Roman' as my only lead hasn't helped thus far.

I am no expert but after looking at several hundred roman coins it definitely looks like one to me. I have not found one that is exact but there are so many different variations of roman coins out there its really hard to tell.
