Went to the 1820’s property for a hour and did pretty good. I got a gold guilt, looks like another floral and can’t read what is says on the back, a clay marble, glass marble, old car and a black glass bottle neck. Looks like I’ll be starting bottle digging in 2019. Any opinion on the button feedback would be appreciated. Thanks for looking. Awesome brush! Mine has brass bristles! If you brush it anymore you will absolutely ruin it.

Take a toothpick and clean around the letters. I'm sure it's a known back mark

That’s the best I can do, but thanks anyway Steve. I’ve been racking my brain on the Internet try to figure out what it says with a free magnifying box I got 5 years ago with a ATP. My last hope is THECANNONBALLGUY!!
I PM’d him hopefully he checks in this week [emoji1317]

Cool clay marble. Looks like it might be porcelain or polished. I found one like yours last year at an old 1800’s permission. Congrats
 

Take one these items, flour, ground up white chalk or talcum powder, even plaster of Paris, dry, and lightly sprinkle on the back. Rub it lightly with your finger. The contrast is the only thing that will bring out the backmark. Removing the corrosion will make the backmark disappear. That's not dirt there. After you fill up the cleaned "holes", the letters will appear better and you should be able to get a better picture.

Then post it. Then clean it off with just water. I checked my button book and didn't see it.

I’m not sure but it did wipe clean. It’s my 6th clay marble. I love it when I see them.

The was a William Eaves who worked for Scovills. Born in England, he came to the US in 1829. I see no reference for any backmark he made.

From what I see so far (waiting for new pics), it' ...ans & Co. Superfine. There are I believe two names there.

But that not it
 

It sucks bet this close but so far. It’s not trashed it just close enough not to know which I driving me crazy. I almost wish it was worse lol
