Hi all, well I'd have to say yesterday was one of my finest
days water hunting this year! To start the day off right, as soon
as I got in the water I found a Indian head penny, next came a V nickel,
then another V nickel and all together I found 3 V nickels (can only read
one date 1906), two buffalo nickels (can't read either date),
a Indian Hear penny (can't read date), a Wheat penny (1916)
and a Mercury Dime(1925).

Got out of the water at this site and moved over to a swimming site.
Here I found about 3 dollars in clad coins, one cheap bracelet, a couple
of shotgun shells and 4 rings. Two of the rings were good. One was a
Sterling Silver Mans ring and the other was a 14K Jesus ladies ring.

Needless to say after I got out of the water, I went and bought a lottery
ticket. LOL

The pictures explain everything on why I couldn't read most of the dates.
Water and sand do a lot of harm to old coins in a lake over 100 yrs.

Thanks to everyone who responed. The lake is an old amusement park
here in NW Ohio. Our club has been hunting it for several years now.

Probably in the past 7 years we have taken over 2 or 3 thousand rings out of
this lake. Guess what, we are still finding them, they are just a little harder
now.

The place I found the old coins at was once a swim area in the late 1800's.

By the way I was using a Tiger Shark Tesoro with a 10" coil. Man those
nickels were ringing loud and clear.

Well HH, Ringfinder

Great finds! Is this just a old swimming lake? Sounds like people have been going there for a long long time.

Hey Wetgreenie, I find those things also, but don't tell anyone, cause if your finding
bobby pins, your gonna find small necklaces and gold chains. I guess you and I hunt
about the same, no discrimination or very little. Usually where I hunt, 40 other guys
hunt there year round and if you get a signal you dig it.

I forgot to tell you guys, nope I didn't hit the lottery. But I did buy another ticket
when I checked my ticket and I'm now entered for a big cash explosion. Hope they
draw my ticket. Yeah Right!

Well HH all, Ringfinder

P.S. Raining cats and dogs here in Ohio today, so worked out in my barn and got
caught up on some of honey do's.

Wow, an 1859 Indian! Awesome! Those nickels are in remarkably uncorroded condition, too!

Hey all thanks again for all your comments. I'm afraid that the Indian head probably is
a 1859, but I can't read the date. Of course it doesn't have a wreath on it so it is probably
and 1859.

As for the buffalo nickels, the Indian heads are the same as all buffalo nickels. They are
all the same, unless of course you have found a hobo nickel and then the Indian head
has been changed (carved differently) Hobo's used them to trade for food while
riding the rails.

HH all, Ringfinder

P. S. Heading for Seymour Indiana this weekend, who knows what treassures
I'll find there!
