I went yesterday before the rain for a quick hunt in a new field and found what at first I thought was a copper coin. Turns out to be what I think is a very large copper button, it has a floral design on the front of it. It was pretty bent and I managed to straighten it pretty good.

I went early today back to the hayfield for a long slow random walk. The wind was blowing steady 40 mph with gust over 50 mph I was bundled up with my winter gear. I found the two buttons and not finding much after three hours, I was on a long squiggly walk back to the truck from the far side of the field. When I got about twenty yards away from the truck I found the harmonica reed piece and then three steps from that I got a good 94-95 signal telling me it was about 6 inches down. I popped the plug and seen what I figured was a Half Cent. I put it in the safe pocket and left. I slowly cleaned and am still in the slow clean process. It looks like I'm seeing 1754 on it, it measures 25 mm and weighs 7 grams. I was trying to find a pic of a early farthing, bust facing right, but I can't find anything. Any help from the experts would be greatly appreciated.
Enjoy the pix

Thanks deershed, I was just looking at it out of it's bath, I can almost see a full date the last two numbers are trying to hide. I can actually see the first two clear as day with my loop and with my loop it now looks like a 7 is the last number. I'm not sure if it is still gunk there or porous old copper. I'm going with Iron Patch's ID, make more sense because it allows for the extra rolled up edge. I seen last night from clicking on an example of a "hammered King George I half penny" on ebay There seems to be alot of "hammered" coins for sale I was unaware until looking for a pic for an example of what my coin should look like. It'll be nice going back there on future hunts to find that early silver I know has to be hiding there.

It's most definitely King George I as there's a big difference in the bust vs a George III. The reverse/Britannia is also different than a George II or III.

Thanks again Iron Patch, I really appreciate your help, I'm about to post what I found today in a different soybean field, please check it out when you get a chance I'm thinking I might need advise on how to clean this one and a ID help too. I was looking again at that King George with my loop before I left, the last number is a four.
