well I've been amazed how quickly the members here have been able to help me and others identify their finds, so I thought Id toss this one into the mix.

found in the same general area as my Ox Shoe and the 1700 coins amongst other various item.

books on the fort at michilimackinac by lyle m. stone, concur it is a door hinge, they used them on log cabins and heavy fort gates too.
I have a few of these that were destined for fort Detroit, from the shipwreck I am working on.
