I was down on a old property near the shoreline and dug another old ship spoon. I don't think this is as old as my white star ss atlantic spoon and not near the same area but it could still be a good find anyway. It is plated but held up in amazing shape for being in the ground. This time it is a CUNARD line spoon. I cant make out the writing under Cunard to say what ship its from but someone may know that and the makers marks on the back. I think its Elkington. The date letter is a B also i believe. Thanks for looking! [emoji2]

I think Erik in NJ may have nailed it with the "Cunard S. P. Co"
(steam packet company).
Until anything else I'm going with it. Thanks Erik! [emoji2]

My pleasure. You have found two very historically significant spoons.

Because I cannot find any direct reference to the combined name "Cunard Steam Packet Company," but only the Cunard Steamship Company and its predecessor, the British and North American Royal Mail Steam Packet Company, you may have found a rare transitional spoon.

I would suggest contacting the Cunard Steamship Society:

Cunard Steamship Society, Cunard Line History, Samuel Cunard Information |

which also happens to be in Nova Scotia (!) for a more definitive attribution of your spoon.

I emailed them but no reply yet. Maybe the long weekend messing it up. I may try the museum of the atlantic next to see if they got anything on it! [emoji2]

Awesome find! Keep up the good work. I hardly doubt the lettering under the Cunard is likely to be the Ship's ID, but I’m not sure about that. My friend had got one like this, not exactly like this, but have one which he got from his cruise voyage from Chicago to Rhode Island and he also couldn’t find the source and it’s still under research. I don’t have the pic with me or else I would have shared it here.

I never got a reply but i may try for info elsewhere. Work got crazy for me so hunting and research got temporarily on the back burner. Im dying to get out swinging though. Especially with winter coming fast! [emoji43]
